Talk Abstract
This presentation explores recent breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly in the realm of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). Significant achievements, such as GPT4, BARD, LLaMA, Claude, Dalle-E 2, GitHub copilot and other generative AI engines (AI Foundation Models), along with advancements in machine learning and AI tools, signal an impending technological revolution with profound implications for humanity. Projections suggest AI and GenAI could boost the global GDP by up to 20% by 2025, equating to over $15 trillion in growth. These advancements have catalyzed innovation across domains like powerful and more natural chatbots, virtual assistants, language models, real-time translation, autonomous systems, cognitive robotics, medical diagnosis, remote healthcare monitoring, financial forecasting, and Fintech. Generative AI, spanning diverse technologies that mimic human intelligence, with reinforcement learning through human feedback and transformer algorithms at the forefront, has permeated nearly every sector of the modern economy. The presentation outlines pivotal milestones driving GenAI’s immense growth, highlighting contributions from academia, industry, and government. It also addresses crucial concerns related to security, governance, and privacy, underscoring the potential for adverse societal impacts if not promptly addressed.
