Pr. Omar Ben-Ayed is Professor of Quantitative Methods at the University of Sfax and consultant for SMSA Express (ex-licensee of FedEx in Saudi Arabia). Previously, he served as Professor of Management at King Saud University for 11 years and at Qatar University for 9 years; additionally, he served as the Business Excellence Chair for Qatar Rail Chair for three years. He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.  Professor Ben-Ayed’s teaching interests are in the areas of Operations Management, Management Science, Operations Research, Quantitative Analysis, and Quality Management. While his previous research mainly focused on bi-level linear programming, he is currently focusing on the design and timetabling of parcel distribution networks. Professor Ben-Ayed, a Certified Assessor by the European Foundation for Quality Management, is also working on the applications of quality and excellence to higher education.
