This course provides an in-depth introduction to computer security theory and practice, equipping students with the knowledge to identify, analyze, and mitigate security threats. Students will explore key security concepts, including risks, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures, through real-world case studies and hands-on exercises. Topics covered include malware threats, access control mechanisms, password security and best practices, cryptography fundamentals, as well as operating system, network, and database security. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles and the ability to implement effective security measures in modern computing environments.
